Rehab 2013 Telethon & Auction
With fantastic entertainers, great sponsors and wonderful donors, this year’s 43rd annual West Texas Rehabilitation Center’s telethon promises to be the best ever. Among those taking the stage on January 19th will be one of the fastest rising country debut artists of 2012 Jana Kramer. The show also features Texas Country Music sensation Aaron Watson of Abilene.
Suddenlink Communications is the official sponsor of the 5 hour long live show. First Financial is on board as our new official toteboard sponsor. The host hotel for the event continues to be the MCM Elegante Suites. Telethon auction support is again provided by our friends at NTS Communications.
Rising Nashville country star Jana Kramer has already sold well over one million single tracks. Her biggest hit to date is her debut single “Why Ya Wanna”. The song reached number 3 on the charts and was certified Gold. Her latest single “Whiskey” is currently climbing the charts. She has been nominated for 3 American Country Awards including New Artist of the Year, Single of the Year for New Artist and Music Video of the Year for New Artist.
Aaron Watson has been in the country music business for 12 years. He says his music is influenced by country greats – George Strait, Chris Ledoux, Willie Nelson, and Waylon Jennings. His music is a unique sound that is purely new, and yet is representative of a grand, southern tradition. He has 11 albums out and his newest is titled Real Good Time. His album debuted in the Billboard Top 10 Country list. Ask Aaron what inspires him – and his music – and he’ll list three things: family, fans and faith.
Charlie Chase, longtime co-host of the popular “Crook and Chase” talk show on the Nashville Network will return to anchor the Rehab 2013 host desk for the 5 hour special.
Texas legend Red Steagall will be back along with The Boys in the Bunkhouse for the show. Other regulars lined up to appear are Bill and Susan Hayes (Days of Our Lives), Brad Maule (General Hospital) and Twyla Foreman.
Television stations in Abilene, San Angelo, Austin, Corpus Christi, Laredo, Midland/Odessa, Lubbock, Amarillo, Waco/Temple and Wichita Falls/Lawton, Oklahoma carry the show live. The show will again be streaming live at WestTexasRehab.org and bigcountryhomepage.com.
In addition to the telethon, an annual internet auction of merchandise and services provided by friends and businesses will take bids at WestTexasRehab.org. Bids will be accepted beginning in late December and will continue through the January 19th telecast. Auction items will be on display at the Abilene Civic Center beginning at 6 pm on the 19th. A television show featuring the items airs in Abilene and San Angelo from 5:30 to 7 on the night of the telethon.
The annual telethon raises more than one million dollars to help make it possible for the West Texas Rehabilitation Center to serve more than 500 patients each day regardless of their financial circumstance. The Center was established in 1953 as a private non-profit outpatient rehabilitation center and has become one of the largest, most comprehensive facilities of its kind in the nation. The Rehab which is beginning its 60th year operates facilities in Abilene, San Angelo and Ozona.
The Rehab 2013 Telethon will air live and originates from the Abilene Civic Center on January 19 from 7 p.m. to midnight. Tickets to the show are $12 each for those who like to be a part of the Abilene Civic Center audience for this entertainment event.
