Sporting Clays Classic A Success
The 6th Annual TOP GUN Sporting Clays Classic benefiting the West Texas Rehabilitation Center was a booming success. The event raised over $77,000 dollars for the Rehab Center. WTRC Director of Donor Relations and Event Coordinator Dan Huggins says
229 shooters participated in the event at Abilene Clay Sports with 400 people attending
the awards party Saturday evening at the Expo Center Round Building.
The “TOP GUN” was Jeff Phillips of Abilene breaking 98 out of a possible 100 clays. Phillips, a 2nd time winner of the event, won a Browning Gold Evolve 12 gauge shotgun. Special engraved knives were presented to 2nd and 3rd place winners Russell Griffin and Doug Kreitler. Winners of shotguns in Lewis Class scoring were Miles Rand, Rocky Richardson, Jared Schuman, Timothy Graves, Russell Dressen, Todd Redwine, Marcos Serna, Jr., Jeremy Reedy, Robert Pittman, Brooks Lanier, Callie Gleason and Holly Richardson. Buck Carter won the raffle shotgun and Kim Huggins won the gun board shotgun. A total of 15 shotguns were presented this year to winners. |

Blake Fulenwider Dodge-Chrysler-Jeep was the naming sponsor and First National Bank of Baird and Richardson Enterprises from Kilgore, Texas were presenting sponsors. Bill Reed Distributing/Coors was the Club House sponsor. Station and Shotgun sponsors were Western Trailer and Equipment, Darby Enterprises, HGN Operating, Abilene Aero, Enertech Wireline Services, Sam’s Club, Lawrence Hall Dealerships, Abilene Reporter News, Abilene Sports Medicine and Orthopedics, Names and Numbers Phone Book, Bandera Drilling, CADCO Engineers and Architects, Condley and Company, Abilene Convention and Visitors Bureau, Snowmass Energy, Suddenlink, Long-Hall Exploration, Ringo Drilling, and Sanguine Energy. Other sponsors were Pepsi-Dr Pepper, Monogrammer and Fastsigns.
A total of 110 individuals volunteered to help with the event. Walmart, Kohl’s, Dyess Air Force Base and Abilene Christian University, Hardin Simmons, McMurry, Lincoln Middle School and First Abilene Federal Credit Union all had representatives who volunteered their time to help out.
