| WTRC Trail Ride Held
It’s Springtime and horses and their riders are happy to be outside after being cooped up for the Winter. The Spring Trail Ride for Rehab was held April 19-20 at the Silverbrook Ranch owned by Helen Groves.
As the daughter of Robert Kleberg, Jr. and great granddaughter of Captain Richard King, founder of the famed King Ranch, the ranch's vast acreage served as her play-ground and horses were often her best friends. That love for good horseflesh and for competing with the best remains at the roots of her breeding philosophy today.
Hailed in the NCHA Chatter magazine as the first lady of cutting, Groves established her own Quarter Horse kingdom over 32 years ago when she built the Silverbrook Ranch in Middlebrook, Virginia. In 1997 she moved the ranch, along with its name, to its present location south of Baird.
Always she has taken pride in raising and showing some of the best horses to enter a cutting arena. A weekend filled with wonderful weather, great food provided by the Chuck wagon crew and marvelous camaraderie was enjoyed by 165 riders
