"For 2-year-old spina bifida patient Hayley, the day she took her first steps on Rehab-made braces was a WOW Day because it meant she could begin raiding the refrigerator in the middle of the night, just like her big sister!"

Abilene & San Angelo WTRC Participate In Autism Walk

On Saturday, April 5th more than 2,000 participants including members from the staff of West Texas Rehabilitation Center turned out at the Abilene Zoo for this years Autism Walk. the event raised over $120,000 in donations! Walkers were treated to lots of entertainment; including two very friendly giraffes and country & western singer, Kina Lankford.  The event also featured a Resource Fair serving as a popular gathering place to learn more about therapeutic services, support groups and products offered to families touched by autism in the Abilene area.

Meanwhile, at Foster Field in San Angelo an Innagural Autism Walk was held there marking the first time an event like this was held there. A beautiful day, lots of smiling faces and so many teams walking that the walk route had to be expanded!  Kids enjoyed rides on trailers pulled by tractors, clowns and bounce houses; and parents connected with others dealing with autism.
