Physical Therapy
Rehab’s physical therapists are primarily involved in the treatment of disorders of the musculoskeletal and neurological systems, which have been caused by illness or injury. Through the use of heat/cold, laser, water, and electric stimulation therapy and manual therapy (massage, myofacial release, joint manipulation) and a variety of exercises and muscle re-education techniques, their goal is to alleviate pain; maintain, improve, or restore function; and/or to prevent dysfunction—most especially in regard to mobility.
Several of Rehab’s physical therapists specialize in the therapeutic treatment of injuries from recreational and/or organized sports activities, ranging from the occasional tennis player, child playing in the back yard, and “weekend warrior” to participants in organized sports through schools and/or community organizations.
Orthopedic injuries of the upper or lower body, chronic pain, spine rehabilitation and manual therapy, as well as lymphedema, are areas of focus.
Rehab physical therapists have the training and years of experience to accomplish meaningful evaluations and implement hands-on therapeutic programs geared to get the patient as mobile and as pain-free as possible—as quickly as possible—so they can return to desired activities.
Additionally, the department has state-of-the-art equipment and facilities in which to provide treatment and all therapists are university-trained and state-licensed.
