Why People Choose West Texas REHAB

Meet Our Foundation StaffWe all have been touched by the inspirational story of the West Texas Rehabilitation Center.  Perhaps you, a loved one, or a friend has benefited from its services.  Perhaps you have donated to a fundraiser, or you have been moved by the work the Center does to help people.

Our story begins in 1953 when physicians, teachers, and parents organized the Taylor County Society for Crippled Children in Abilene, Texas.

In the beginning, the society provided care in a converted elementary school classroom.  Then, in 1955, the community joined together to build a permanent facility that could provide rehabilitation care to people of all ages.  As they still do today, donations flowed from everywhere.  The land, building materials, even the fence was donated.  Building trade unions donated labor so the Center could have air conditioning.  The Kiwanis Club sponsored the Center's first telethon.

Responding to need, in the years since there have been more than 20 additions to the original facility in Abilene, a state-of-the-art facility has been built and expanded in San Angelo, and another facility opened in Ozona.

Today's Center has the resources to treat almost 1,000 different
diagnoses and serves an average of 500 patients each working day.

And not one patient in all those years has been turned away because of an inability to pay.

It is a story of community responsibility and a reservoir of love that inspires us all.

Who We Are

We are a small, but enthusiastic and dedicated team whose work is to help friends of the West Texas Rehab Center make wonderful things happen for the disabled through charitable gift and estate planning. Our services are offered to donors and advisors at no cost and with no obligation or expectation, always with appropriate regard to confidentiality. Our skills are diverse and deep, backed by access to astute professional advisors and a wealth of specialized information. We are accessible and eager to help those who ask.

Why We're Different from other Agencies

Working as a team, we help friends of the Rehab find practical solutions to everyday desires and needs, often through planned giving.  Whether the desire is to leave a legacy, avoid or reduce taxes, increase income, realize tax free appreciation, provide for an income you can't outlive, protect assets from creditors, provide for retirement, provide for expert management, or diversify assets, our work is to be helpful without expectation, obligation or cost.  Our work is especially advantageous to anyone doing estate planning, wishing to benefit a charity or charities, facing significant capital gains, gift or estate taxes, or anyone with a life or estate planning need coupled with a desire to benefit charities they love.  The Rehab has provided us very specialized training; we believe, however, that it is our attitude of service which distinguishes us.  If we can be of service, please contact us.
